2010-2011 ASAP Enrollment is here!

Whether you are looking for something fund for your child to do after school or you want to make there 2010-2011 school year a success ASAP has classes for everyone. With some unique partnerships this year ASAP is expanding our class offerings to include classes such as Garden to Table Culinary Arts while still focusing on our cornerstone tutorials program. No matter your child's interest or your specific family needs ASAP is here to accommodate you! Looking for more child-care opportunities for your child...Many parents have concerns about sending their children home afterschool without supervision. The After School Action Program is constantly looking at how to better serve students and families. Currently our program is three days a week. There are other programs however that compliment the three day a week ASAP program. ASAP does not facilitate these programs, but they are available through the middle school campuses. For more information about these programs please contact the following individuals.

Crossroads- Is open to 6th-8th graders. Students enjoy snacks, play hilarious games, and listen to great messages by Oak Ridge staff or guest speakers.  Then break up into small groups for additional discussions led by trained high school leaders.

Operation Achievement- is a mentorship and enrichment program, which assists selected 6th through 8th grade students in the Georgetown Independent School District to develop the discipline and motivation necessary for academic success. This program is a Southwestern University and GeorgetownISD partnership program. Selected students meet with Southwestern University student mentors on a weekly basis to develop an academic program of study based on student goals, teacher/parent recommendations and individual learning needs.

The Developmental Assets are 40 common sense, positive experiences and qualities that help influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults.

Because of its basis in youth development, resiliency, and prevention research and its proven effectiveness, the Developmental Assets framework has become one of the most widely used approach to positive youth development in the United States.

ASAP uses the Developmental Assets as the cornerstone for our program. From our approach with students to our curriculum the Assets are woven into everything we do. You will notice Developmental Asset information as the year goes on in our newsletters, website, e-mail list serve, and other forms of communication.
