This year for the first time
ASAP students participated in the end of the year Lock-out instead of
Lock-in. Learning that it is better to give than to receive, students were
challenged to explore Wolf- Ranch in search of the best deals to fill the Blue
Santa Barrels!
ASAP First Annual Lock-Out 2008-2009 Ms. Valerie gives Craig some of her beauty secrets. Boundaries and Expectaions Thank you Wolf Ranch for a Great Time!
The students were split into four teams and given instructions, a map, and $40 Their challenge was to create a plan of how they would get the most bang for their buck! They looked at the Wolf Ranch map and found stores they though would have good deals for children's toys and gifts for teens. They practiced calculating tax on items and figuring out sale prices, to make sure they didn't go over budget! All of the students met for snack at their campus and then loaded the bus for Tippit, where they got the details for the event! From Sephora to Target students scoured Wolf Ranch looking for good gifts and the best deals. Once at Wolf Ranch each had a role in the group centered around the Developmental Assets® Categories. Student leaders had to make sure everyone followed the rules! Student leaders had to write and give their "elevator speech" to let people know why we were there. Student leaders were in charge of the money, staying on budget, figuring out tax, and sale price. The students had a great time and turned their $160 into a ton of toys! Not to mention having fun with friends, doing something good for their community!
